WHY ORION HUNTER?

Orion Hunter is a Fastpitch Club that puts the needs of our female athletes first.  Almost all of the funding for the Club's activities is generated by our Bingo operation, which allows our teams to receive a tremendous amount of training and tournament play.  Our Club turns out some of the areas most fundamentally sound players who go on to become some of the most outstanding players in our local high schools.  Our 18U team prepares players for College athletics and participates in many "showcase" tournaments where college scouts recruit players.

What benefits do the athletes from Orion Hunter receive?

TRAINING-

·         Orion Hunter has its own indoor training facility located in Chesapeake. The "center" includes:

o       Two hitting cages

o       Five pitching lanes

o       Four separate hitting station area

o       Cardio and weight training area

·         An off season speed and conditioning program

·         Skills camps hosted by professional softball players and coaches

·         A performance-based pitching program conducted by Tim Laws ("Mr. Tim") from Pitchafit.  His training is based on skill level and the athlete's desire to practice and compete.

TOURNAMENTS-

·         Each team receives a travel budget for their age group.  

·         Last year alone Orion Hunter teams participated in over fifty tournaments in ten different states. 

·         Teams have control over the number, type and location of the tournaments they participate in.

FUNDING-

·         Players pay a small organization fee and a deposit on their equipment.

·         The remainder of the funding is generated by the Club's Bingo program, which has operated successfully for many years. 

·         Each player is represented by one parent or guardian on that teams Bingo dates.

TRYOUTS-

·         When- Early August, at 6PM.  2008 date TBA.

·         Where – Butts Road Primary school, 1000 Mt. Pleasant Road, Chesapeake Virginia

·         Who – Anyone wishing to play in one of the area’s top organizations.  All teams will hold tryouts on these dates. (U12, U14, U16 and U18)

·         Each player must attend both sessions.
